In the video “Gartner Top 10 Tactical Technology Trends 2019,” Gartner reveals that in the coming days, businesses will be categorized by smart devices that will progressively convey insightful digital services globally. The concept is referred to as Intelligent Ditial Mesh. Gartner contends that the developments under each of the mentioned three subjects are fundamental elements in pushing forward a progress process of modernization as part of the constant future strategy. The first trend is “autonomous things.” It performs operations traditionally done by humans and achieves this using AI. It exists in the following five categories: agents, appliances, drones, vehicles, and robotics. The second one is “augmented analytics.” It signifies a third crucial movement for statistics and analytics capacities as data technologists explore more hypotheses using automated algorithms.

The third trend, according to Gartner, is “AI-driven development.” It considers best practices, technologies, and tools for integrating AI into platforms and applies AI to develop AI-powered instruments for the course of improvement. The fourth development is “digital twins.” It can be connected to form twins of bigger structures, including a city or power plant. The fifth trend is “empowered edge.” It is a topology that will provide solutions to issues ranging from unacceptable latency levels and high WAN costs. The sixth trend is “immersive technologies.” It includes aspects such as augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR). The seventh trend is “blockchain.” Its application will potentially improve cash flow, lessen transaction settlement times, and lower costs.

The eighth trends are “smart space.” It is where digital or physical settings of technology-empowered structures and humans interrelate in progressively intelligent, coordinated, joined, and open settings (Gartner). The ninth trend is “digital ethics and privacy.” It is a development that should be considered because customers are becoming increasingly concerned with how private and public entities use their personal information. The last trend is “quantum computing.” It is a development that can hypothetically work on millions of computers simultaneously.

In the video “5 Things to Know about the Logistics Industry in 2019,” Robison negates that in 2019, the logistics industry will experience various trends. First, the sector will experience an increase in the number of Direct-To-Consumer shipments. Secondly, multimodel and LTL freight will grow in popularity. Thirdly, logistics will continue to transform due to digitalization. Fourthly, the supply chain will progressively be circular. Lastly, within the supply chain, the utilization of SaaS will expand.

In the video, “Entry mode decision – Internationalisation – Global Marketing,” it is evident that four sets of factors will influence the decision of entry approach of a firm in international markets. The first one includes internal elements of the company, such as product distinction benefit, merchandise complexity, global experience, and company size. The second one comprises the external factors, and they are centred on the targeted country. Some examples include several relevant intermediaries, the intensity of competition, trade barriers, demand uncertainty, sociocultural distance, and market size and growth. Thirdly, there are transaction-specific factors; they are essential in determining the degree to which outsourcing is advantageous and safe. It considers aspects such as an independent partner’s opportunistic behaviour and expertise’s tacit nature. The final set of factors is the desired mode characteristics; it entails assessing a company’s wishes based on the different types of entry modes, including control, level of risk-averse, and flexibility.

The video “5 Challenges in Final Mile Logistics” demonstrates the various problems associated with Final Mile Delivery and how to mitigate them. Based on the video, an organization must consider five crucial Final Mile Logistics aspects. The first one involves avoiding missed deliveries and being late. In essence, this can be achieved by ensuring the Final Mile strategy includes technology that can analyze the data for delivery. The second consideration is maintaining balanced service levels from market to market. The service levels are likely not to be balanced when relying on one transportation provider to deliver goods in multiple markets; it will be beneficial to use a mixture of Final Mile Logistics providers.

The third aspect is ensuring the clients have a quality experience. In this way, it is beneficial to survey customers after delivery to get their expertise regarding satisfaction; this will enable addressing challenges when they arise. The fourth feature involves identifying the best provider of Final Mile Services. Such organizations will not always offer the same type of delivery options (“5 Challenges in Final Mile Logistics”). Having multiple providers, in this regard, is advantageous for being able to serve the various needs and requests of the customers. The last consideration is reverse logistics. In this case, it is crucial to have adopted a secure reverse logistics program to handle situations where clients want an exchange or to return a Final Mile delivery.

In the video “What global trade deals are about,” Edwards reveals that the dynamics that control international trade and the global economy are unclear but impact everyone. Edwards further maintains that there are so many disagreements around trade deals that parties are not talking about business but regarding rules, especially global standards. Thus, it is essential to think about trade in the context of the guidelines the world wants to embrace and what such guidelines should serve.

In the video “How to negotiate a trade deal,” Petroff contends that trade deals make it cheaper and more comfortable for nations to do business with one another. They are not obligatory, but there are various challenges if there is none. For example, states generally impose an extra charge on foreign merchandise when they cross the border. Getting rid of these tariffs is achieved through trade deals. Such agreements give customers better access to foreign goods and push prices down. More so, they can strengthen diplomatic relations. To this end, negotiating a trade deal requires gathering essential people around, including regulators, negotiators, and lawyers who discuss the details. They work out the different sectors they want to focus on and deliberate on the methods to align their industry rules. Subsequently, leaders must give their authorization, and the legislators must ratify everything.

The video “Negotiation tutorial: Bargaining tactics” presents fundamental approaches that are effective for negotiation. It includes the following ones: establishing a connection, ingratiation, anchoring, persuasive argumentation, diagnostic question, brainstorming, reframing, paraphrasing, and active listening. Based on the video, some other examples are making a concession, getting to an agreement, and asking for reciprocity. From the video, it is evident that applying these tactics allows one to make their way through a conversion with ease and persistence.

For example, the company has been shown to offer unique solutions by focusing on digitization and promoting innovation, such as automated guided vehicles that bring good to humans. The organization embraces innovative industry solutions. Last but not least, it ensures consistent first-class operations.

The video “DHL Smart Warehouse” demonstrates that DHL adopts a methodological approach towards innovation. DHL always considers how to have better quality and safety and serve their customers better. The organizations are in a unique position where it has a great breadth of operations internationally. The company has had success in driving innovation across the globe.

Conversely, the video “DHL Data Analytics” shows that DHL utilizes data analytics, which enables the staff to understand a specific level of risk for a particular link. The company has taken advantage of this technology by using internal data to recognize specific patterns that cannot be seen only by scrutinizing a handful of shipments. Apart from that, the company has developed a tool that enables its customers to quantify their risk in a manner they have never been able to do before.

The video“Behind the scenes at Amazon’s Black Friday” has demonstrated that one strength of Amazon logistics is that the company has significantly invested in robotics. Arguably, this technology has made its centres tremendously efficient. At the same time, based on their logistics, the organizations spread products randomly across the warehouses. The objective is to minimize travel distance because they diminish the chance of two or more products collapsing.

The video “Vision Picking at DHL – Augmented Reality in Logistics” shows that DHL has adopted vision-picking technology in their warehouses to enable complete hands-free order picking. The technology has allowed the company t reduce errors and increase productivity. At the same, it offers a user-friendly, more accurate, and much faster approach to order picking.

In the video “3PL Warehouse Facility Tour,” it is evident that one of the strengths of the Apparel Logistics Group is that it is a multilevel company that receives capabilities based on customers’ requirements. Secondly, the organization continuously invests in technology, such as Crisplant Tilt Tray System and Railex G.O.H System. Last but not least, it is centred on a free trade zone warehouse, which implies that it can function under different guidelines from a bonded warehouse.
